About the Journal
Aims and Scope
Text & Type was established at California State University, Los Angeles in 2021 with the aim of showcasing innovative and imaginative work produced within global college writing communities. Sponsored by the First-Year Writing Program at Cal State LA, the journal is especially committed to supporting writing intensive global education initiatives for first-generation college students and serves as a publication venue for students working within our international first-gen writing communities. Special issues of the journal feature critical and creative multimedia projects exploring current pedagogical conversations in the field of Writing Studies, including but not limited to: work with first-year student writers, equity-focused writing pedagogy, engaged and community-based learning in the writing classroom, and digital writing and research.
Review Process
All submissions to Text & Type undergo review processes. Articles submitted by students participating in Cal State LA sponsored international first-gen writing workshops will be reviewed by a faculty and student editorial team. Articles submitted for special issues will be reviewed by Cal State LA Writing Studies faculty and graduate students working on special faculty-supervised projects.
