About the Journal
Consonant with the goals of its parent, the PUMP (Preparing Undergraduates through Mentoring toward Ph.D.s) program, the PUMP (Preparing Undergraduate Mathematicians for Ph.D.s) Journal of Undergraduate Research publishes articles written by undergraduate students that want to pursue doctoral studies in the Mathematical Sciences. Those usually attend a summer REU or another of the many programs in the country aimed at undergraduate research. All of these students are invited to submit research articles to the PUMP Journal of Undergraduate Research.
The PUMP program identifies mathematical talent among minority students, women, and first-generation college students in the California State Universities located in Southern California and strengthens their preparation to successfully pursue doctoral studies in a research institution. For this reason, this journal especially encourages submissions by students from under-represented groups in the Mathematical Sciences.
All articles are reviewed by referees selected by a member of the editorial board. The journal publishes high-quality work in all areas of pure and applied mathematics and statistics. Authors may submit research papers, papers containing new proofs of known results, and expository papers which propose original points of view.
The PUMP Journal is indexed in MathSciNet and zbMATH Open.
