Crisis, Conflict, Conjuncture: Confronting the Discrepant Raza Archive—Notes Towards a Chicanx Marxist Praxis

Abstract

I specifically want to address an unintended consequence of our field’s success: how our promotion of awareness about the long and diverse legacy of Raza resistance to oppressions may have inadvertently occluded the equally long and large legacy of Raza individualist opportunists, conservatives, right wingers, and even fascists. That is, I want to call our attention to what might be called a Raza discrepant archive, and the need for contrapuntal analysis, that is, reading against the grain of this archive.
