Ancestral Healing Studies: Preparing the Next Generation of Practitioners

Abstract

When I read the title of the plenary, “Reshaping our Bodies of Knowledge: Transcending the Limits of Chicana/x Studies,” my spirit was activated, my heart jumped, and my mind began to imagine what it might look like to incorporate my work in ancestral healing traditions more fully into our curricula as part of a larger cohesive area of study, perhaps as a concentration or certificate. I hope to show through my platica that we are ready for this next step and more importantly, that our ancestral medicine is desperately needed.
